He specialized in naval mine clearance, a role of great responsibility that involved locating and neutralizing naval mines and unexploded ordnance. This expertise led him to participate in NATO missions in key crisis areas of the time, including the Persian Gulf and Bosnia. Through his dedication, he helped ensure the safety of strategic maritime routes.

2. A Passion for the Sea and Diving

Alongside his military career, Francesco nurtured his deep passion for the sea and scuba diving. His explorations along the Palermo coast led him to discover and secure several World War II ordnances left on the seabed.
